What are the benefits of a memory foam mattress?
The reason that memory foam mattresses have remained a time tested favourite is because of their combination of support and comfort. The mattress conforms to your body and keeps your spine inline during sleep. These mattresses offer maximum comfort for quality sleep that helps rejuvenate your body and mind.
Are Memory Foam Mattresses good for your back?
A memory foam mattress is great for your back. They contour to your body shape and offer a combination of comfort and support that would normally be associated with a firmer mattress. The most common feel is a medium comfort rating which allows your body to take advantage of the durable foam comfort layer and keep your back relaxed during sleep, this will result in your back being pain free on waking.
How does Memory Foam work?
Memory foam works by becoming soft enough to mould around a person or body shape. This happens when the high-density, low-resilience polyurethane foam reacts to body heat. When you lift off the mattress the foam returns to its original shape. This property allows for a restorative sleep
Memory foam types
There are several types available but the most common ones available to South African customers are the standard, gel infused memory foam and latex (not really a memory foam). Although the last is not a memory type it often gets classed in the same category because of its features which can mimic some of the properties of an all-latex Sleep. So we will include the latex types too.
- Classic memory-foam mattresses - The standard foam type has excellent comfort and support properties. It comes in various firmnesses and comfort levels. Not breathable so may become hot in the summer but then that helps during winter so that's a plus and a minus
- Gel infused memory foam - This is the standard foam that has been infused with tiny gel beads. These beads make the foam stiffer and with more bounce. This is where we see one of the connections to latex, the bounce. The beads are also intended to keep the sleeper cool. These are often referred to as cooling gel mattresses. This is a popular choice of top for a hybrid mattress.
- Poly Latex mattresses. These are synthetic latex mattresses have a good bounce and various comfort levels. varius firmness levels to cater to most sleepers and all positions. Can bear weight. They have a shorter lifespan than memory foam and can crispin up in winter.
- Natural Latex mattresses. The natural latex is 100% natural and considered a premium mattress for enhanced comfort. Very popular for the environmentally minded. Weight tolerant and breathable.
What Is The Best Choice for you?
There are a few factors to consider when deciding on your bed memory foam beds. Buying the wrong comfort level could result in you getting poor quality sleep. There are also other points to cover when are looking to buy a memory foam mattress.
Your budget
There mattress types tend to be in the upper level price range so be prepared to budget accordingly.
Sleep position
These mattress types are quite accommodating and will suite almost any sleep position. The the bounce in latex and the support under the memory foam layers make it equally attractive for side as well as back or belly sleepers.
Comfort levels
Again this choice of mattress will cater to all sleepers and give you a comfortable night sleep. They range from super soft options in mamey foam and much firmer feel mattresses of the latex type.
Support structure
The support of these beds is exceptional. Most are full foam units with a small few being hybrid beds with a bonnell spring system. A full foam unit is usually a support core, comfort polyfoam layer and a layer of gel memory Foam. Memory foam mattrresses for sale from The Bed Guy are high quality and affordable.
